Job Classification:   System Administrator 4 – SA4 – IBM Mainframe
Primary Work Location:   1320 Arthur E Adams Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43221

Contract Length/Hours:  12 to 24 months. 20 hours per Week on a standardization schedule to be determined. ON CALL 7 by 24, occasional weekends for maintenance
Role:   Evaluates effectiveness and risk of Information Technology (IT) processes. Performs as a Mainframe Systems Programmer.
Recommends changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs.
Requirement Description:

1. Interfaces with IT enterprise and agency Service Representatives (state agencies & internal agency) on the development of or enhancement to mainframe processes and procedures
2. Evaluates IT enterprise and agency requirements for mainframe processing efficiencies
3. Interfaces with IT Security on incorporating policy and best practices requirements into mainframe processes.
4. Evaluates current mainframe configuration and researches options for meeting future customer needs
5. Makes recommendations to update mainframe designs and implementations to meet IT service objectives.
6. Evaluates effect of policies on mainframe infrastructure
7. Makes recommendation for updating mainframe policies to meet statewide agency objectives
8. Provides technical advice and/or hand-on installation of Mainframe computer hardware & software (e.g., AF/Operator & Scheduler, BMC Product Suite, CICS, CINCOM Supra Database, Gskkyman, HCD, HMC, JES2, RACF, ROSCOE, RMF, SMP/E, SMS, (CA) Top-Secret, TCP/IP, TLMS, TSO, VPS/LRS, Vram, VTAM, z/OS); evaluates very complex Mainframe system requirements (e.g., Mainframe resource usage, vendor software, computing platform, transactions processing, batch system, recovery, backup).
Skills and Abilities: During the interview process, the resource consultant must demonstrate competence/experience in their specific area(s) of project assignment. The resource’s experience must also be documented for review and verification.

Mandatory Requirements/Time:

Six Plus Years of Experience in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of Mainframe hardware & software (e.g., BMC Product Suite, CICS, DB2, HCD, HMC, IBM Tools, IMS, ISPF, JCL, JES2&JES3, MQ/Series, RACF, RMF, SMP/E, TLMS, TSO, VTAM)
2. High level experience with installation, troubleshooting and operation monitoring;
3. Communicate verbally & in writing on technical & non-technical matters.
4. Technical writing & documentation practices
5. software distribution & configuration management tools & mechanisms;
6. Experience working in an organizations operation environment, topology, & protocols
7. back-up & recovery techniques
8. performance monitoring methods
9. operating systems installation & configuration procedures
Must have Ability to: prepare meaningful, accurate & concise reports; stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT assigned; define problems, collect data; establish facts & draw valid conclusions; provide expert technical advice; guidance, & recommendations to management & other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
