Senior Business Intelligence Solutions Architecture
Role and Responsibilities
Serves as technology solutions leader for the Ohio Business Intelligence solution,
responsible for the overall design and implementation of a complex system supporting
multiple source data integration and advanced data analytics.
Performs the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the development of enterprise solution architecture (ESA) and enterprise technical architecture (ETA).
Work to be performed on the following OHT initiatives, on an enterprise level include:
Statewide Data Sharing - Share information across State and Local Data systems to
strengthen Decision Support at all levels
Data capture, data integration, simple to complex reporting, data
augmentation/enhancement, data standardization/master data management, data
analytics, data visualization and implementation of data marts
Analyze enterprise business drivers to determine corresponding change requirements.
Analyze the IT hardware and software environment to detect critical deficiencies, and
recommend solutions for improvement.
Apply architectural and engineering concepts to design a solution that meets operational
requirements, such as scalability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, and manageability.
Define the principles to guide solution decisions for the enterprise.
Facilitate communications between IS workgroups and business stakeholders for technical
issues and/or major changes; acting as the technical domain subject matter expert.
Design and lead the implementation of the Ohio Business Intelligence technology solution based on enterprise business requirements and IT strategies.
Design and direct the governance activities associated with ensuring ESA compliance.
Develop a road map of the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from current to future state (as defined by the ESA).
Coordinate solution architecture implementation and modification activities.
Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations.
Document all solution architecture design and analysis work.
Communicates and enforces coding standards
Performs code reviews and mentors junior developers.
Provide technical guidance to coach and mentor team members; provide performance
feedback to manager(s).
Keep current and informed of domain related technologies and best practices.
Serve as technical owner and point of contact for domain specific solutions.
Provide coaching and mentoring to team members in the areas of technical skills and
competencies.
Required Experience
A minimum of 10 years of Information Technology experience including the development and maintenance of IT technical architecture and standards.
5 years or more in the 3 known DW methodologies (Third Normal Form (Inmon),
Dimensional (star schema or Kimball) and Data Vault) and relevant tools, with a proven track record of successfully delivering BI and/or data warehousing projects.
5 or more years of experience modern enterprise architecture, hands-on experience with enterprise business intelligence platforms dealing with large sets of data using newer
architecture solutions to help process data with greater speed and scale
5 or more years’ experience of all components of an enterprise technical architecture.
5 or more years’ experience of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
5 or more years’ experience of network architecture and application development
methodologies.
2 plus or Years of experience with deployment and administration of:
ETL technology (preferably Informatica)
Oracle database technology
BI Platforms: Business Objects, Cognos, SAS, etc.
New Technology: Cloud Computing, Data Virtualization, Big Data Analytics etc.
Unix/Wintel Platform/Infrastructure
Desired Skills
Experience with mobility of BI applications a plus
Experience with healthcare, Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, public sector and/or
financial information systems a plus
Proven Thought Leadership in the Analytics domain that includes:
Data Integration, Data management, MDM
BI Architecture/Strategy, Analytics, Self Service BI models
