This is a contract-to -hire opportunity The consultant could potentially convert to FTE @ Dept of Aging. The Dept of Aging is not able to sponsor H1 Visa Holders

IT position with advanced level working technical knowledge of Infrastructure/ Networking/ Server/ Endpoint, IT Security design operations, maintenance and optimization in order to perform:

50 % of duties.  Advanced network, server, and endpoint device administration functions across all network components/services, including proactively:

  • Monitor and administer network, server, endpoint and information system activity including user access administration. Perform event correlation, analysis of malicious activity indicators, based on review and access to multiple security tools and services.
  • Respond to tickets and system alerts (analyze, interpret, investigate, resolve) based on monitoring activity, for security (malware, malicious actor), and other purposes (performance, usage, availability, etc.) based on established procedures.
  • Manage, update, modify alerts, adjust/fine tune event correlation rules, etc. (e.g. filter false positives, increase accuracy/relevance/effectiveness), create new rules based on threat changes/evolving risk, etc.
  • Reporting and escalation of system behaviors and trends
  • Define and document best practices and support procedures.
  • Maintains Inventory and asset configuration documentation.
  • Provide after-hours support for infrastructure needs – emergencies, maintenance, system event support.

30 % of duties.  Provide technical IT Leadership for integration of various related systems; in strong collaboration with the Application teams, design, install and configure modern and effective network integration solutions for all internal and customer facing network devices and firewalls including:

  • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans
  • Design and implement monitoring, configuration and reporting functions that minimize manual consumption and intervention.
  • Collaborate with application management teams on developing and maintaining strategy and roadmap documents and plans.

10 % of duties.  Assist with network, server, endpoint and information system component vendor evaluations and recommendations.

10 % of duties  Performs other related duties as assigned which include but is not limited to:

  • provides high quality customer service as per ODA policy B-830, division-specific customer service procedures, to internal & external customers
  • gathers, interprets and applies information from a variety of sources to aid in software development duties
  • attends meeting, trainings, seminars and special events
  • maintains on-going job knowledge to remain current in all Infrastructure management and administrative responsibilities and trends
  • Mentor/cross train team members on existing and new technologies.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: (1) state and agency vision, mission, goals and applicable policies, procedures and laws, (2) IT principles, methods and best practices for unified communications, LAN and WAN networking design, configuration and administration for all related devices including back-up and recovery techniques, performance monitoring methods, OS installation and configuration procedures, and internet clients,(3) technology design and structured analysis principles and techniques for applied to enterprise environments, topology, and protocols related to software distribution and configuration management tools and mechanisms Skill for(4) interpersonal effectiveness with both oral and written communication, (5) customer service orientation, (6) complex problem solving using critical thinking applied to installation, troubleshooting, operational monitoring in order to assure quality of services, systems, and processes, (7) systems and operational analysis and evaluations to identify and codify business requirements aligned with technical solutions, Ability to(8) prepare meaningful, accurate and concise technical reports and documentation, (9) stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT assigned (10) define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions in order to provide expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues and opportunities, (11) to lift, move and maneuver 20 pounds of equipment with agility to maneuver in and around physical structures
