Requirement Description:
The candidate will be supporting The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Project Planning, Management, and Accounting Software. These applications are business critical applications and require enhancements, maintenance and migration of legacy software to latest technologies. The ideal candidate should have expert level Java and Web Applications Development Skill.
This position will function as a highly skilled in Java and Web Technologies with specific responsibilities that includes but not limited to:
• Participation in requirements gathering sessions. Interacts with executive level business users and/or technical experts.
• Providing high-quality solutions by architecting, designing, coding, testing, debugging and maintaining the software applications (Frontend, Middleware/Backend, Messaging, Batch, Database applications).
• Ability to understand, debug, troubleshoot and alter the legacy programs to implement new requirements and/or fix the system/data problems.
• Ability to write complex SQL Queries to provide the data for reporting needs.
• Providing the estimates to develop the new requirements/software.
• Performing code reviews to ensure quality of programs developed by other developers.
• Support performance/security testing and fix the issues identified.
• Create and Implement the migration strategies to migrate legacy applications to latest technologies.
• Ability to Demonstrate drive and initiative; work independently and as part of a team with limited supervision; manage time and meet assigned deadlines.
• Coordinate and conduct project architecture, infrastructure review and production deployment meetings.
• Anticipate, identify, track and resolve issues and risks. Identify and help project manager to understand the technical risks and suggest the mitigation strategies.
• Develop project specific Proof of Concept’s to validate technical feasibility.
• Suggest test automation strategies using appropriate frameworks like JUnit/Testng/Selenium as appropriate.
Experience:
1. Experience in architecting, designing and coding applications using Java/J2EE and Web Technologies and in depth understanding of java programming languages and software.
2. Experience with Servlets, JSP, Spring framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate/MyBatis, Rest API, EJB, XML, JSON, Webwork, Spring MVC, Velocity, Tomcat, JBoss.
3. Experience with HTML5, Java Script, ES6, jQuery, KendoUI, Angular, TypeScript, NodeJS, Bootstrap, CSS3, Shell Scripting.
4. Proficient with relational database and SQL. Experience in designing the database model and analyzing the query plans to optimize performance using Oracle/Sybase/SQL Server.
5. Experience with Eclipse/IntelliJ, Visual Studio, TFS, Git, Ant, Maven, CI/CD Tools, Aqua Data Studio.
6. Possess excellent communication skills; both oral and written skills including
strong meeting and work session skills.
7. Have excellent organizational skills, proven analytical, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
8. Experienced in agile development methodologies.
Mandatory Requirements/Time:
• 4-year college degree or equivalent technical study.
• 10+ years of experience in designing and developing software using Java/J2EE and Web Technologies.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with developing applications using micro service architecture.
• Experience with developing cloud native applications and using cloud technologies.
• Experience with other programming languages (.Net/Python/Nodejs).
• Experience with using Docker.
• Experience with developing Responsive Web Design and Mobile Apps.
