Product Specialist 5—Windows Desktop

In the DODD environment, the product specialist will work with Windows 10 and software relating to this environment.

The Product Specialist at DODD will work on a variety of tasks in support of DODD Windows 10 clients that can be desktops, laptops, or virtual. These tasks will include working with the assigned DODD team leader as one of the primary support resources for issues that arise with any of DODD's desktops. In this role, the incumbent will need to have knowledge of Windows 10, updating Windows via WSUS and SCCM, and Active Directory Group Policy.

Primarily, the incumbent will work hands on with Tier I and II Support and serve as a technical lead for Tier I and II staff as assigned. The incumbent will:

  • They will be tasked to get every desktop up to version 1803 and updating successfully via WSUS. Will work 9-6PM or 10-7PM to allow for upgrades of desktops after hours. Once there, they will ensure everything updates to the latest 2019 Windows 10 version.
  • They will work with DODD staff to fine tune the desktop experience via group policy.
  • They will document all procedures in the process for repeatability.

Secondarily, expectations of the incumbent will be knowledge of Microsoft Modern Management technologies like Microsoft Autopilot and Intune. As a lead, the incumbent could assist in working with DODD and State of Ohio staff to move to Microsoft Autopilot and updating from the Microsoft Store for Business and Intune in order to move away from SCCM and WSUS.

The Product Specialist requires significant to expert experience and skills in the technologies listed above. The Product Specialist is responsible for collaborating with DODD Information technology Services staff and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the product and effect migration to new versions of a product.

  • Proven track record of hands-on technical design and code work within large complex
  • Proven hands-on technical work with a variety of technologies.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise integrating a variety of diverse technical environments and cross-platform technologies.
  • Proven experience mentoring and performing supervisory functions for technical teams.
  • Ability to make best practice recommendations based on past work.
