Title: Information Security Policy Writer

Estimated Length of Assignment: 3 Months           *Assignment may end at any time.

Overview:

Under general supervision, Information Security Policy Writer writes and updates existing complex cybersecurity governance (policies and standards) documents. These documents are to be written in a clear, thoughtful, coherent, concise, consistent, and accurate format. The Information Security Policy Writer manages document development projects within an iterative drafting and revision process by gathering, analyzing, and incorporating feedback from subject matter experts, internal clients, and other writers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop relationships to help promote and improve information security and provide security advice on procurements, projects and new initiatives.
  • Write, edit and update Cybersecurity policies in partnership with policy sponsors.
  • Comprehend, analyze, and interpret content and communicate with the ability to note critical issues and actions.
  • Communicate with management teams regarding status, issues, needs, approach and recommendations.
  • Gather policy requirements for policy development inline industry best practices such as, ISO, NIST, PCI, FTI and others.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities appropriately.
  • Strong experience in various standards and best practices such as ISO, NIST, PCI, FTI, and others.
  • Identify currency with emerging security trends, risks, new guidance or standards (internal and external) and security.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

  • At least 3-5 years of proven work experience as an Information Security Policy Writer.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a fast paced environment and proven administrative, writing and office skills.
  • One or more relevant technical/professional security certification (such as, GIAC, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or vendor-specific) required.
  • Functional understanding of regulatory and compliance mandates, including but not limited to ISO, NIST, HIPAA, PCI, FTI and others.
  • Written communication with ability to create formal documents for enterprise distribution.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of database, application, and infrastructure security.
  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field.

The Screening Process:

At least one onsite technical screening with FCDC Director, Information Security.  This will include a technical assessment.
