Background:

TourismOhio is the official destination marketing organization for the State of Ohio.  Our mission is “To enhance the economic health of Ohio through brand marketing the state’s distinctive travel and tourism assets and quality of life attributes.”

TourismOhio along with its partner agencies (Advertising, Public Relations, Publisher, Multicultural and Digital) combine to create programs and strategies that focus to achieve TourismOhio’s mission, goals and objectives.

The Ohio.org website is currently developed in a CMS tool called Drupel.  We would like to move this to the Departments standard CMS tool, WordPress.  The Development Services Agency is looking for two Staff Augmentation resources for completing this migration.

Requirements:

Product Specialist

The Product Specialist is the expert for a technical development or execution environment product or set of products. The primary responsibility of a Product Specialist is to ensure the availability and facilitate the productive use of a product for Application Teams or end users.  The Product Specialist may own part of a product, all of one, or several products depending on the nature of the product(s) and their use. The Product Specialist requires significant to expert experience and skills in the product supported.  The Product Specialist will usually also have significant experience in the operating environment(s) (e.g., HP/UX, NT, MVS, etc.) on which the product is implemented.  If the product is one that was internally developed, the supporting PS should also have most of the skills of a Programmer. The Product Specialist is responsible for collaborating with Technical Architecture Specialist, System Specialists, Programmers and vendors to ensure and enhance the use of the product and effect migration to new versions of a product.  Along with WordPress, the Product specialist needs to know and have .PHP development skills.

Web Page Design.

The Contractor must follow State of Ohio website policies (IT-06, ITP-F.3, ITP-F.35) to design a user-friendly, emotion-driven, professional, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant website, in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (29USC794d,1998) and Title 36 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1194.22. Projects

Attractions Database

The industry database / web portal allows owners of attractions, destinations, etc. to upload information about their respective attractions, destinations, etc. to the Ohio.org database for prospective Ohio travelers. All listings go through an approval process by TourismOhio partners. Many owners of attractions, destinations, etc. will have multiple listings. For example, the owner of Cincinnati Museum Center will have a listing for the Cincinnati Museum Center as well as a separate listing for a Kids Weekend at the Museum, etc.

The web portal must be able to handle a significant amount of data. There are currently 10s of thousands of listings in the Ohio.org database.  The tool must be in the format that can be supported by DSA Staff moving forward.  Often times

Because the technical knowledge of users can vary, an extremely user-friendly web portal is a necessity.

All information on listings must be able to be exported to be included in TourismOhio’s print publications. Listings must be able to include high resolution photos and videos.

Ohio.org

Migrate the current Ohio.org website to WordPress.  Migrate current content and develop structure for the Ohio.org website in wordpress.

Guest Blogger Access

  • The solution must include the transfer of past blogs to a new org/blog section.
  • Additionally, the solution must allow for guest bloggers to provide content for the
  • A CMS must be added to provide bloggers (non-TourismOhio staff) access to only the blog
  • CMS must include multiple levels of admin access and scheduling

 

 Interactive Map

  • The website  must  have  an  interactive  “Google  Map”  (using  Google  Map  API)  on database listings.
  • The interactive map must be able to search for attractions / destinations / events using address or users location.

 

         Responsive Design

The overall website needs to be developed utilizing Responsive Design as to be mobile friendly. Mobile functionality must be maintained rather than complete mirroring of desktop to mobile. (e.g. You do not need all desktop menu options while “on the go” with mobile device).
