JFS is looking to add a Product Specialist 5 for a consultant role expecting to last thru FY18.

Onsite interviews are highly preferred, and local candidates available to interview onsite will be reviewed first. Client Managers might conduct a phone screen, but is not likely. Utilize the bid comment section to explain the candidate's location, 1-2 sentences will suffice.

JFS onboarding process is longer than other Agency's. Allow at least 2-3 (often 3) weeks to onboard a candidate. Please set this expectation with submitted candidates as well.

Job Title:  Senior IMS DBA Product Specialist 5

Job Description:

JOB DUTIES IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE: (These duties are illustrative only. Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.)

Performs routine maintenance (e.g., back-up, recovery, restoration & reorganization and other db utilities) of data base systems, creates DBD, PSB &ACB, or assists in design & implementation of mainframe computer bases.

Assists in security & recovery of mainframe data bases ex. IMS , develops & tests programs & data base descriptor modules to ensure workability, deletes, modifies &/or adds data in data bases, creates & initializes, tests system files, maintains & updates data dictionaries & reviews data stored in order to change parameters/fields, or maintains records of data base set logs used in restoration or recovery of production data base files, checks, monitors & logs generation data sets to ensure production files are handled properly, creates test data for testing new systems & data bases, creates image copies & runs SMU's & records volume serial numbers of tape image copies to be sent offsite.

Writes computer programs using programming language under direction of data base administrator &/or lead data base analyst & assists in preparation of production procedures & maintains & modifies production programs as needed, (i.e., in non-service bureau); or writes computer programs using high-level computer language or other software to access on-line data bases & writes programs, using high-level programming language to define & administer data bases, logs tapes for recovery & maintains records & segment counts for monitoring system.

Assist lead data base analyst &/or administrator in collection of data & user requirements to perform maintenance tasks, development of new applications & with technical questions form systems development/programming staff & contract staff or in development of data base files or structures; attends vendor classes & completes taped & on-line training & reads manuals & literature to keep current with data base management systems.

MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of computer science; one or more data base management systems (IMS) & their programming on one hardware platform; COBOL &/or other high-level programming languages; systems analysis & design. Skill in operation of computer terminal. Ability to deal with large number of variables & determine specific course of action; interpret variety of technical material; communicate verbally & in writing on technical & non-technical material; communicate verbally & in writing on technical & non-technical matters.
MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
.  Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or associate degree in computer information science
.  9yrs. exp. in systems analysis & design, & computer programming using COBOL &/or other high-level programming language, or which 48 mos. was as team/project/group leader over large & complex data base systems
.  7 yrs. exp. in design & maintenance of IMS data base management system executing on one platform, of which 36 mos. was as team/project leader

.  24 mos. exp. in computer programming using COBOL &/or other high-level programming language
