Job Title: Business Analyst 3

Scope of Activities:
• Facilitate the process for arriving at a common understanding and agreement on the organization and representation of data; work with business subject matter experts to understand their data needs/requirements and develop new approaches to business intelligence and data analysis. Partner with stakeholders to define, design, develop, test and implement data warehouse solutions.
• Contribute to the creation of an enterprise logical data model which is independent of any technology solution and identifies interrelationships between data; successfully elicit and document data terms, definitions, standards, and master data management processes.
• Work with business areas to design and build quality business intelligence solutions including reports and dashboards. Champion the use of Business Intelligence tools within the agency. Provide training materials and education for functional staff on use, best practices, and self-service solutions.

Skills:

Required
• Strong experience with logical modeling concepts (both relational and dimensional), Data Warehousing, and standard query and reporting tools such as SQL query, SSRS
• Extensive experience with data conversion mapping source to target, and working with various data sources (e.g. flat files, databases)
• Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence especially with PUCO stakeholders;
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories for a variety of projects.
• Knowledge of the system development lifecycle and the role of data administration and business analysis in the SDLC, particularly high and detailed-level requirements gathering, functional design, testing, training, reporting, support, and continuous improvement of business reporting applications.
• 5+ years experience developing and implementing enterprise reports and dashboards.Strong communication and proven writing skills
• Excellent MS Excel, Word, Visio experience.

Preferred
• Solid understanding of data analysis and data visualizations;
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Excel pivot tables, Tableau, SSIS;
• In-depth experience with State of Ohio IT business processes.

Credentials:
• Bachelor's degree in business, information systems or related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience; M.B.A. or MPA preferred.
• Five years of experience in IT, with a minimum of two years in business analysis
