ODOT is looking for TWO Quality Assurance Specialists 3 for the Division of Information Technology
The candidate will be supporting The Ohio Department of Transportation's Highway Information Management (HIM) and EnviroNet-Phase 4 projects. The position will go through the end of fiscal with extension into FY17.

Job Description:

The candidate will be supporting The Ohio Department of Transportation’s Highway Information Management (HIM) and EnviroNet-Phase 4 projects. This position will function as a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist.

Education:

4 year college degree or equivalent technical study.

Technical Skills:

REQUIRED:

7 years required experience testing I.T. products and applications

7 years required experience testing applications both COTS products and in-house developed

7 years required experience developing and executing test cases, scripts, plans and procedures both manual and automated

7 years required experience designing, developing test cases and logging defects with minimal supervision

3 years required experience with Microsoft Team Foundation (TFS)

3 years required experience with Microsoft Test Manager (MTM)

1 year required experience working on a project using AGILE methodologies

  • Ensure that defined processes are followed.
  • Organize and prepare work effectively to facilitate proactive resolution of problems, rather than reactive.
  • Lead efforts in developing and facilitating implementation of team goals and metrics.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with State staff.
  • Contributes to continuous process improvements to increase the efficiency of QA and development.
  • Able to anticipate and resolve issues dealing with software quality.
  • Experience in developing and managing short and long-term plans and schedules for organization wide software quality needs.

Day-to-Day responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist IT in the design, pilot, and implementation of the software quality assurance review process.
  • Provide feedback to project teams regarding process/procedure improvement opportunities and other potential areas for improvement discovered during software quality activities.
  • Assist development teams test software quality for production deployment.
  • Proactively engage in the end-to-end software testing cycle as it pertains to the project.
  • Work closely with and follow direction from Team Lead.
  • Contribute to the establishment of and meet quality goals and objectives for the project.
  • Contribute to all aspects of quality assurance for the project including establishing relevant metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met.
  • With input from Team Lead and team, develop and execute test cases, scripts, plans and procedures.
  • Work with the ODOT project team to test updates, patches, and repairs to the application software components in the development, test, and QA environments.
  • Take corrective action, subject to the ODOT Management approval, to resolve all issues and problems encountered with testing to ensure the applications perform as required.
